The National General Kennel Club (NGKC) of Tianjin, China, is very proud to have been acknowledged by The American Kennel Club (AKC) as a club dedicated to purebred dogs, responsible dog ownership, and prevention of disease. NGKC’s desire to offer a high quality purebred dog registration service in China has prompted a contract with the newly established AKC Global Services program (AKC-GS).
We appreciate AKC’s understanding of China’s purebred dog emergence, and the need for a Chinese National Registry.
As AKC-GS first international client, NGKC’s goal is to develop its registry, advance the welfare and the sport of purebred dogs in China, and to evolve into one of the world’s top registries.
AKC-GS is available to only one organization for each country.
To assure the highest standards of integrity and quality, NGKC will use the following procedures and safeguards:
1. NGKC will collect registration information, insert an AKC-GS approved microchip, verify rabies vaccination, and collect DNA samples for each dog wishing to register with NGKC.
2. These documents and the DNA samples will be sent for processing at AKC headquarters in North Carolina, USA . After the information is processed, and recorded into the AKC-GS database, AKC-GS will electronically transmit the registration documents to NGKC to be printed on special non-reproducible paper.
3. NGKC will then give the certified registration to the dog owner. The dog’s registration number and official dog show championship points and titles will be available on the AKC-GS website for NGKC dog owners to verify.
Another goal for NGKC is to provide standardized, published rules for competitions throughout China. The past three highly successful NGKC Golden Necklace shows followed the AKC Group alignment and the AKC Breed Standards. Although NGKC’s newly developed Dog Show Rules are based on the AKC Rules and Group Structure, we are committed to accommodating organizations that follow FCI rules and breed standards.
