“China’s first 10 dogs register with NGKC/ AKC Global Services”
“ DNA & Microchip requirements”

On the gorgeous morning of Tuesday, April 29, 2008, a group of about thirty pure bred dog owners, friends and family, slowly gathered at the NGKC Club House in the Tianjin Cao Zhuang Flower Center. There were also a good number of TV, Press and Internet reporters. They were all here to witness the very first ten dogs in China to be registered with NGKC/AKC Global Services.

All NGKC officers and staff were present and had their hands full with the preparations and ongoing media interviews. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing with everything under quiet control. Dogs and their owners took advantage of this event and spend some quality time together while waiting for their turn at the registration desk, which was conveniently set outdoors.

Mr. Robin Stansell, AKC V. P., Event Operations, and his wife Cindy, began the demonstration and performed the first DNA sampling and microchip insertion on the 8 year old Siberian Husky ‘Syntari's Point Taken’, owned by Mr. Zhan Jichen of Beijing. The same dog submitted the first NGKC/AKC-GS registration application to be processed at AKC headquarters in the USA, and if qualified will receive the first such Registration. Ten dogs all together were processed and registered representing the breeds Chow Chow, Bichon Frise, Siberian Husky, Golden Retriever, West Highland White Terrier, Samoyed, Schnauzer and Collie. This occasion was also used to train NGKC staff, most of who after a few procedures said “ It is a lot easier than I thought it would have been”.

Ms. Cindy Stansell was so pleasantly surprised to see the Husky ‘Syntari's Point Taken’ here in China. She knows the parents, brothers, sisters and cousins of this dog. She actually owns one of the cousins and “ It feels like I have family here in China” she said with excitement. Herself a Siberian Husky breeder, competitor and handler with many top wins and BIS’s, she is an expert on her breed.
