GLOBAL CANINE WELFARE RESPONSIBILITY FORUM
CONCLUDED SUCCESSFULLY IN BINHAI, TIANJIN, CHINA
China’s first forum concerning the welfare of our canine friends, the Global Canine Welfare Responsibility Forum was held successfully in Tianjin Binhai International Convention and Exhibition Center on Nov. 27th, 2009. It was organized by the National General Kennel Club.

The most relevant issues were effectively addressed by world- recognized authorities, including the World Society for the Protection of Animals and Animals Asia Foundation. Presentations were also made by the American Kennel Club, the Canadian Kennel Club, the Westminster Kennel Club and the National General Kennel Club.

Local government representatives also took to the podium and expressed their strong support, and extensive media coverage reached a world-wide audience.
(A complete list of speakers and attendees is given below).

Only two days after the forum, Government officials from the highest level called us for a meeting to discuss immediate working plans.

The forum focused on today’s many canine welfare issues in China and offered real proven humane programs for implementation to the authorities in the municipality of Tianjin that can also be used in all of China.

China’s rapidly developing economy has produced a proportionate increase in pet dog ownership now estimated at more than thirty million, making it the third if not the second largest pet dog country after the United States of America and Brazil.

Serious problems have developed from a lack in responsible dog ownership, breeding and sales. Few or nonexistent government regulations together with an uninformed public have resulted in health and safety hazards from the huge numbers of roaming owned and disowned dogs. Human deaths from rabies infections are rising fast resulting in inhumane massive dog killings in public view.

Massive educational programs in responsible dog ownership, responsible breeding, free rabies vaccines, mandatory and affordable microchip registration and strict government enforceable regulations are included in our programs.

This forum successfully built a platform for China and other countries concerned about animal welfare, for sharing their successful experience and advanced knowledge in assisting China to take the most effective measures in promoting responsible dog ownership, aiming to make human beings and canines coexist more friendly, and our global community more harmonious.

We are carrying on further discussions with the Tianjin government to launch a series of public programs for animal welfare and how to organize the following year’s Global Canine Welfare Responsibility Forum with even more success.
