The 1st NGKC Golden Necklace Dog Show was held in Tianjin’s ‘Caozhuang Flower Center’ from 1st October to 3rd October, 2005. The organizers were Tianjin Xiqing District Beizhen Govenment and Tianjin Caozhung Flower Centre. The show was hosted by Tianjin Natonal General Kennel Club, and technically supported by members of the American Kennel Club (unofficially), Taiwan Kennel Association, Tianjin TKC, Tianjin Bureau of Animal Husbandry, ChineseWorking Dog Management Association, Tianjin Animal HusbandryDepartment, and the Veterinary Medical Association.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) is the worlds largest and most respected registry with a history of more than 100 years. It is also the ‘umbrella club’ in the USA offering tremendous support to its member clubs.

The Westminster Kennel Club has a history of 130 years, and has the reputation of “The Dog Show” of the world, and is AKC’s first member club.The first ‘Golden Necklace”, being considered as the "Chinese Westminster Dog Show", introduced AKC’s philosophy and values, in the style of the Westminster Dog Show. Four former prominent Westminster and AKC approved judges were invited and judged applying AKC standards. The reputation of these judges coupled with the organizational quality of NGKC, attracted more than 200 excellent dogs from all over the wolrd including America and Canada.

Over 500 top dogs entered this show, and 170 dogs in seven goups were eligible to enter the finals. Only those pure-bred dogs which had won at least BOB domestically and internationally were eligible to compete in this show.
Our very fine group of AKC approved judges worked the outdoor rings under gorgeous skies.
Mr. Robin Stansell (V.P., AKC) judged BIS, and he put up a beautiful Smooth Fox Terrier, American bred, owned by Mr. Shen Yan Liang of Beijing.
