‘Alex’ Steals the Shows’
The second NGKC "Golden Necklace" show was held from April 21st to the 24th 2006 at the Tianjin Binhai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The organizers were Tianjin TEDA Administrative Committee, Tianjin Xiqing District Beizhen Govenment, and Singapore Exhibition Group. The operators were Taixin(Tianjin) Exibition Co, Ltd, Tianjin Noted General Trading Company, and Beijin 5000-year Science and Technology Co. The co-organizers were Tianjin Council for the promotion of trade, Xinhua News Agency (Tianjin Channel), Taiwan Kennel Assiciation, Tianjin Bureau of Animal Husbandry, Yichuang Advertising Company, and the National General Kennel Club (NGKC).
Five specialty shows were held in addition to the main and final all breed show. The specialty breeds were Siberian Husky, Golden Retriever, Schnauzer, Chow Chow, and Shetland Sheepdog. A tremendous amount of enthusiasm filled the audience as the show progressed. There was constant applause as dogs and their handlers entered the rings. NGKC staff run the event very smoothly with considerable help from many volunteers, especially the staff of Show Dog magazine and its chief editor, Ms. Vivian.
Our AKC approved judging panel consisted of the world respected Mr. Peter Green (formerly from Scotland; he will be judging BIS at the 2009 Crufts show in London), his partner Ms. Beth Sweigart of the USA, and Mr. James G. Reynolds of Canada. Mr. Reynolds judged BIS at the 2006 Westminster show. We are very grateful, fortunate, honored, and proud to have had such a distinguished group of world renouned judges.
Dogs in the main show were divided into the seven AKC recognized groups, and the Polar Prince Siberian Husky ‘Alex’ won the BIS in both the specialty and all breed shows, becoming the most glorious star of the night.
