The 3rd Golden Necklace Show was held on April 20th to 22nd 2007, at the Langfang International Convention and Exhibition Center, in Langfang, China. Chinese Champion dogs were chanllenged by hundreds of foreign bred Champion dogs representing over 10 foreign countries including America, Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea and Thailand. It was our most competitive show ever, with over 600 high quality dogs and handlers fighting for their prize. In this spectacular Championship competition, the audiences were given the thrill of their lives.
This was a three-day show. There were five specialty shows in the morning of the first day, Friday, with 50 Chow Chows, 41 Shetland Sheepdogs, 39 Golden Retrievers, 32 Siberian Huskies, and 25 Miniature Schnauzers. These were judged in two side-by-side rings. In the afternoon 138 all-breed
puppies of 3-6 months old competed.
320 dogs competed on Saturday, the second day, with all-breed classes of six months and older, highest class was the Open Class.
Sunday was the “Golden Necklace Championship” show. 252 dogs with a BOB or higher could enter,
the highest level of the three day show.
The judging panel consisted of equally, if not more impressive, AKC approved professionals. Indeed it would be very difficult if not impossible to ever assemble again such a group of judges at any dog show in the world.
BIS was judged by Dr. Robert Indeglia who had just judged BIS at the 2007 Westminster.
Mrs. Mary Renato Indeglia, a renowned AKC approved judge of more than twenty years, worked her rings exquisitely. Mr. Jon Cole, also a long time AKC approved judge, had his hands full with the large number of high quality dogs.
The next three people deserve a very special appreciation and aknowledgment from all the Chinese dog lovers. They were originally invited to attend our show as guests, but they were called to duty as one of our judges, Dr. Bernard McGivern, had to cancel due to health issues.
Mr. Eugene Zaphiris and Mr. Mathew Stander, the publishers and editors of “Dog News”, a weekly magazine distributed to every AKC approved judge, and every kennel club in the USA. It is the most influential dog magazine in the USA. Of equal importance is the monthly magazine “Dogs In Review” edited by Mr. Bo Bengtson. (They are all AKC and FCI approved judges). These two publications are considered to be competitors, and yet they put aside their business interests, and agreed to attend our show together, understanding the true mission of NGKC. We shall never forget them.
